![]() It looks like only days have gone by when they said a new Y would open just steps away from the Distillery District. People were excited, not only for the nice looking building just north of Mill St, but because of all the services and healthy options the new site will provide to the residents of our neighbourhood. It is now almost a reality and we're getting ready for the Cooper Koo - Cherry Street YMCA to open its doors on May 30th, 2016. The YMCA of Greater Toronto has also planned a celebration for the community, which will take place 2 days before its opening. Get ready then for the weekend of May 28 and 29 when you will also be able to tour the new YMCA Centre of Community as well as to take part in the activities that have been planned for those days. This state-of-the-art building is an 82,000 sq ft structure with a 30,000 sq ft green roof where the community can mingle and plan activities. Different programs will be offered such as Child & Family, Community programs, Health & Fitness and day camps amongst others. Make sure to answer their program schedule survey, and why not, become a volunteer. The Y wants to make sure that they're taking into consideration the needs of the neihbouring residents and cater to their likes and wants. Visit ymcagta.org/torontocherry for more information! We'll see you on May 30th for sure!
